Description

Demographics is often wrongly used as a synonym for generational analysis.  This is incorrect.  “Age Wave” analysis, as it is more accurately called, is only a sub-section of demographics focused on generational analysis.

For financial advisors, it is equally important to understand other trends in demographics, including emigration, longevity risks and tax consequences for various income cohorts, along with the impact seen by increased female employment participation rates when considering the opportunities related to tax & financial planning of multi-income households.

To wit, the module will aim to decipher & analyze the material trends/factors of immigration, wealth dispersion & “Age Waves” that advisors must build into their practices to address financial planning, tax consequences & longevity risks faced by their clients given these demographic inevitabilities.

Special attention is applied to the bipolarization of income and wealth in Canada, as it directly relates to the nature & value of advice that must be defined under CRM2 NI 31-103

Lastly, the module will highlight the changing nature of the financial advice industry, which is critical for defining what advice is most appropriate to investors
