Michelle Servais, PhD, is a dedicated Researcher at TVCC and an Adjunct Research Professor in the School of Communication Sciences and Disorders, Faculty of Health Sciences, at Western University. Dr. Servais is committed to integrating evidence-based practices into clinical care and advancing research within clinical settings. Her work emphasizes clinical research and knowledge mobilization to enhance service delivery, foster professional development, and improve the quality of life for children and youth with disabilities and their families.
For the past 20 years, Dr. Servais has been a member of the CLEAR Communication Research Team, a collaborative partnership of clinicians, service leaders, researchers, and educators dedicated to enhancing clinical practice and expertise. The team focuses on developing clinicians’ listening and communication skills through integrated knowledge translation (iKT) research. This includes the development and validation of the Effective Listening and Interactive Communication Scale (ELICS), a self-assessment tool for clinicians to evaluate their listening and communication skills. Additionally, the team has created realistic clinical simulations for skills training and developed an innovative inter-professional educational intervention to improve clinicians’ listening and communication abilities.
