In November 2022, an incident between officers and an autistic person prompted the Peel Regional Police to explore opportunities to connect with families and caregivers of autistic people in their community. A partnership between Peel Regional Police and ErinoakKids, alongside many community partners, was developed to provide training, education, and engagement to members of the force.
