Karen Hurtubise
Post-Doctoral Fellow
School of Rehabilitation Sciences, McMaster Univeristy
I am a physiotherapist with 30 years of experience working with children with a variety of chronic conditions (e.g., childhood cancer, cerebral palsy, pain-related disability). I have fulfilled a variety education, coordination, and management roles associated with pediatric rehabilitation service delivery.
I recently completed a Ph.D. in Health Sciences Research at the Univeristy of Sherbrooke, and am currently a postdoctoral fellow at CanChild Centre for Childhood Disability. Using participatory approaches involving multiple stakeholders (e.g., youth, parents), my research focuses on co-designing, implementing, and evaluating novel health service delivery models (including telerehabilitaiton) to improve access to services for children with chronic conditions and their families.
I have held a variety of leadership positions with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, am currently the Vice-Chair of the International Organization of Physiotherapists in Pediatrics and a Board Member and Program Chair for the Rainbow Riders Therapeutic Riding Program.
In her spare time, I lover to spend time with my 4 year old grandson, who teaches me valuable lessons on how to see, perceive and interact with the world differently.
